Outdoor Opportunities

Watersports:
Our location provides a wide variety of water sport venues including lakes, tidal estuaries and rivers varying from the tranquil and scenic to roaring grade 4 white water.  The Devon and Cornwall coastline provides some of the most spectacular scenery in the country for sea kayaking and coasteering as well as world class surf.

The rivers Tavy, Tamar, Lynher, Fowey and Dart are all close by.  The Tavy being on our doorstep and the farthest being a 40 minute drive away.  In addition we have access to canals in Tavistock, Bude and Exeter which gives us a variety of quality kayaking venues ranging from grade 1 to 4.

Moorland:
Dartmoor is within walking distance. North Dartmoor provides many challenges for navigation whilst the South of the Moor is an ideal training ground for navigation as well as other group activities such as climbing and camping.  Bodmin Moor is within 40 minutes of the Centre. Interest and excitement is provided by the numerous Tors and bogs which populate both moors.

Both areas are also steeped in myths and legends, complete with witches, pixies, beasts and hairy hands!

Climbing:
This area provides many climbing venues to suit any climber as well as several different rock types, from the limestone of Chudleigh Rocks and Torbay to the steep multi-pitch granite sea cliffs of West Cornwall.  Across Dartmoor and Bodmin there are countless tors and crags with several, such as The Dewerstone and Haytor, offering ‘classic 3 star’ routes.  This diversity of venues, again, allows us to offer climbing activities to suit everyone from novice to experienced climber.
