Forms 1 and 2 (Years 7 and 8) and Middle School - Form 3 (Year 9)

The main aim is to develop the basic, but vital, skills of English and Mathematics, while, at the same time, offering a wide-ranging curriculum. Excellence is encouraged through the development of a positive attitude to learning. There are special tests for the early detection of any learning difficulty, and extra help is available to overcome any such problem.

Personal and Social Education (PSE) is started in the First Form and continues throughout the pupil's school life - this is a non-examinable subject.

Science is taught as an integrated subject in the first two forms, while the separate disciplines of Physics, Chemistry and Biology are studied in the Third Form in preparation for GCSE.

All pupils choose to study either French or Spanish in the first year (year 7) and have the opportunity of learning a new language (German or Spanish) in addition from the third year onwards.

Art, Design and Technology, Drama, Information and Communications Technology, Music, and Physical Education complete the curriculum.

A booklet giving more detail of the Lower School and Third Form Curricula is available from the Director of Studies.
